The Mayor has started a campaign to increase the usage of 311. Neighborhoods will compete to issue the highest # of 311 requests. Let's use this opportunity to increase resources, visibility and responsiveness for our neighborhood. "At the end of each month of the Challenge, the number of service requests called in by each community association will be tallied and the nine districts (by police district) that have placed the most 311 calls will win the challenge for that period. One citywide winner will be selected as well. District winners will receive a Mayoral Citation and citywide winners will receive a congratulatory letter and plaque from Mayor Dixon." www.ci.baltimore.md.us/news/press/0807/080107%20311%20Community%20Challenge.pdfThe categories for the first phase of the challenge (until Aug. 15th) are: graffiti, potholes and faded signs. Let's communicate any concerns across those categories to 311 as quickly as possible. Refer to Pigtown's group ID #, 348, when contacting 311.

Cliff Sawyer said that Barre Circle could get our own group ID# if the community association contacted him, or we could use Pigtown's.

I think it would be a good idea for Barre Circle to have its own number -- then it might look like more people are calling?

The 311 Challenge for September has been issued. The concept of the program is to encourage residents to use 311 to report issues to illustrate that the 311 system is effective. Let's put it to the test!
When we call about the following issues between Sep. 1st and 15th, our calls will be tallied and the winning neighborhood will receive recognition. The recognition is not all that important but showing the city that we care about our area and that we fully utilize the services offered is important. Let's be the squeaky wheel, be heard and demand action in our neighborhood.
Here are the focus areas for Sep. 1-15:
- Street Light’s -Out
- Street light -Pole Access Cover/Plate Missing
- Boarding (of Vacant Properties)
- Storm Inlet/Drain Cleaning
Our Pigtown number is 348. The more areas and people calling with our group id, the better. Again, the area with the most calls tallied will be recognized.
I will see if I can get the totals for August just to see how we did.
