Hi Everyone
TreeBaltimore Needs Your Support!Currently, Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks' Forestry Division is working in partnership with the citizens of Baltimore and local businesses to DOUBLE the city's tree coverage. As part of this effort, Parks and People is undertaking a survey of extant street trees in Baltimore to get an idea of how many/what kinds of trees are found in the neighborhood. They need help with this survey, and are recruiting volunteers to help survey. Anyone interested in getting involved should email me ASAP (pinkcuttlefishies@yahoo.com) to fill out the volunteer application and sign up for potential training dates. Alternatively, you can contact Kari Smith at Parks and People directly(Kari.Smith@parksandpeople.org) with full details of what they're trying to accomplish and how you can get involved. Kari is trying to get the survey organized quickly (this week or so) so if you're at all interested it's best to let someone know immediately!
The training sessions are planned for the evening of Monday 6/18 (5:30-9:30), daytime Friday the 29th (9:00 am-1pm) or daytime on Saturday 6/30 (9:00am-1:00pm), they will take place at the Parks and People Office and you need only attend one.
I know Parks and People has done a lot to support greening activities in Barre Circle, this is a great way to give back!
