Morning everybody, nice forum you got here. Might try to set up something similar for Pigtown eventually. Anyways, I'm right behind Porter's coffeehouse on Otterbein St and I wanted to introduce myself. You'll know my house because it's the one that always sounds like a sawmill when I'm home. And it will soon have a purple or orange painted fence, I havent decided which yet. OK, back to work, maybe I'll see you around peoples!

Hey Carson, welcome to the board! If I were you I'd go with the purple fence in honor of the ravens! ;D

I'd go with the orange since purple (once a former favourite colour) is becoming a bit ubiquitous around here. :-)
Welcome to the 'hood!

Yeh, that's right. Doesn't feel good to be another crime statistic. Some crackhead broke into my house yesterday while I was gone and took all of my power tools. The cop said it happens all the time and that rehabbers are easy marks. So some of my plans are on hold until I buy new tools. If you see a crackhead walking around with a circular saw, kick his ass for me.

Funny you should mention that, because up until yesterday that was not a very nice alley. Someone got evicted about a month ago, and dumped matresses, furniture pieces, and clothes in it. Then people started leaving trash bags and renovation debris. I finally got the city to come clean it up the same day I got robbed; weird timing huh? The city took the big stuff, and I went by and picked up the small trash, and now it looks great. Hopefully that will be a message to the illegal dumpers and the junkies that like to hang out there. Oh, and I am living there while I rehab it, I just happened to be house-sitting at my parents place this week; another strange coincidence.

My wife and I are new neighbors also. We live on the 500 block of Scott St (Hint: House has scaffold in front and Carriage House in the back. ) We moved in last December but have been hovering in the neighborhood since November 2003, when we bought the house. It's been a big project fixing the place up, but the worst is over. Carson, hang in there. We were robbed 3 times during renovations. It's frustrating but it seems to happen everywhere.

Welcome Jimmy.. I walked down your way today to check out the place and let me say.. I think the houses down your way have the potential to be the NICEST ones in the neighborhood. I love our 3 story row, but you got one of those real nice wide ones..
I get so excited when I see all the scaffolding down on your side of Wash. Blvd. In fact I was looking at real estate prices for Scott St. a few weeks ago and I saw one house with the tag line "Get in on the Scott St. boom before its too late" ;D

Don't feel bad -- that same crackhead who stole your saw is probably enjoying my new plants and riding around on my husband's bike.
Jerk. :-(
What a way to welcome you to the neighbourhood! If you need any tips on managing the alley, let me know. I'm becoming something of a pro -- I should give seminars.

Hey everyone-
I recently bought 217 Scott and I'll be moving in at the end of July (renting back to the two students who were living there previously). I'm excited about becoming a part of the community and meeting some of the neighbors.

Hey everybody, I'm wrapping up my renovations, and starting to look for a roomate. The room in question is actually the best room in the house; cable ready, big closet, etc. The rent will be cheap, the house will be sweet, and the beer will flow like wine. I'm looking for a young dude like myself, maybe a UB student/grad student or a young professional. I'm open to a short term summer arrangement or longer. If anybody has any leads, you can email me or just post it here. Thanks for the help,
Carson

After months of work, two break ins, floods, and misc other mishaps, I decided the house was ready for a roomate, and he's moving in this weekend. It's just for the summer so I can feel out the whole roomate situation, but it should be pretty cool. The extra #350 a month is going to cut my mortgage payment in half! And I have a live in drinking buddy when there's nothing better to do, sweet.
