So anyone have a recomendation for a good Chinese take out anywhere around here? We've been to the ones immediately around here, but weren't too happy.

I guess you haven't been too happy with the 'Fung' place on Washington Blvd. I think the food is ok there, but I wish the guy would fix up his place a little. You'd think he'd realize he'd get more business if he'd put some time into making the place look better.
Here are my suggestions: -Szechuan House in Federal Hill (very good for dining at home or there)
-Uncle Lee near the inner harbor (really neat building and pretty good food.
Also, we are supposed to be getting a chinese resterant where the McDonalds used to be at the entrance of pigtown. Unfortunately, some less desirable businesses are also moving in with it (i.e. Loved Ones).

yes yes yes!! When I first moved here I tried one of those delivery places that put a flier in my door (nuisance, I know, but I was desparate for food) and it was delicious!!! I am trying to figure out which one it is... I will look when I get home and post a message here if I can't figure it out while I'm at work.
I've ordered from them several times and they are consistently good, timely, and friendly.

found it Lucky Fortune 1116 Light Street 410-547-0299 or 410-547-028-98 Free delivery with $10 minimum, open till 11 pm every day and on Friday and saturday till midnight. They give you free stuff with your order - a soda with $10, crab rangoon with $20, etc. Their lunch specials are $4.75 for anything on the list, and come with egg roll or crab rangoon, fried rice, and soup or soda. Ok, can you tell I'm a fan? My favorites are the garlic shrimp, the pork fried rice, and the crab rangoon. The egg drop soup is too chicken-ey for me (had to say something negative or you'd think I worked for them). Hope this helps in your search! Nicole

We should all take notice that the chinese place on Wash Blvd has finally fixed up their store front and made it look nice. Now hopefully their food will match the building.
Maybe we should reward them with some business for helping rebuild the neighborhood a little.

Tried it and its not too bad.. i think its definately better than the last place that was there.. One of the nice small things that they have done is removing the bullet proof glass.

Neil and I have been eating from China First on Washington Blvd a couple of times a month, and we are pleased. It's not the best Chinese I've ever had but it is consistently good.
They make a decent moo shu pork (don't know if I spelled that correctly) and pork fried rice. And they are friendly, and deliver.

Ive been pleased with them as well. I'd love to see a few more restaurants on the Blvd.
I'm excited to see who moves into the old Porter's building.

Speaking of Porter's: their back storage room was open yesterday. I didn't see anybody moving stuff in, taking stuff out, or anything but it could be a good sign. Or it could mean that somebody who wasn't supposed to be there busted the door open, which is why I closed it. I can't even remember the last time I walked over for a cheap egg and cheese sammich...

My favourite Chinese carryout is Yung's -- 410-539-8200. Very good food. Second favourite is Chen Carry Out -- 410-539-7028. The lady who answers the phone at Chen is so sweet...and she always remembers my mushroom and egg allergies.
Even though the Chinese place on Washington Blvd is directly behind my house, I refuse to order from them. They've been less-than-friendly neighbours so far. Blocking my alley, leaving trash next to my fence (as if I wouldn't know who the 10-gallon soy sauce buckets belong to???) -- so they're not getting any recommendations from me.
What's going on with The Green Pig? Another poorly-planned Washington Boulevard venture?

I just want to update my recommendation here and say that we gave up on Lucky Fortune some time ago because of declining food quality and a hair in my food. We are really liking Trust Chinese or whatever the one on Washington Blvd is calling themselves these days. Lately the food has been really good.

I'm still very fond of Chen Carry-Out!
