I've noticed a few dead birds lately on and around Barre Street. What gives? Are only crows affected by West Nile...is there a number I can call about this? Do we even care about West Nile anymore, or is there some other uber-scary illness we should worry about?
It's that time of year -- speaking of mosquitos -- make sure there are no places (or receptacles) for standing water to collect. Standing water = mosquitos = itchy = possible West Nile = bad. Bad for you, bad for your neighbors. Dump out your standing water, please!

Overgrown underbrush can be a place for mosquitoes too, I think - there are literally swarms of them in the parking lot behind our house. We get rid of standing water and even spray poison but Neil said that all the ivy growing up near the tree back there grows mosquitoes. I have to race to get Abby in the car or we have at least 4 mosquitoes eating us on our drive.
